The Kolios Project is an instrumental progressive metal band comparable to artists such as Aghora, Cynic, Pain of Salvation, Gordian Knot, At War with Self, and Dream Theater. The project was started in 2002 by guitarist and composer Ryan Denzer-King (also of Oneiros). Frustrated by the lack of like-minded musicians at his university, he instead turned to internet forums to find other people with personal recording capabilities who were interested in his kind of music. Soon after the start of the project, Ryan found Manfred Dikkers, a capable jazz drummer with a set of V-drums and an interest in progressive music. Ryan and Manfred recorded the first two songs in the latter part of 2002, still looking for other musicians to join them. In 2003, Ryan finally found a keyboardist -- Matteo Borselli of Anthelion. Pablo Carrascosa officially joined The Kolios Project on bass and vocals in early 2006. Also joining in on various songs are Tymon Kruidenier (guitar - Exivious), Santiago Dobles (guitar - Aghora), Alan Goldstein (bass - Aghora), Andre Verholen (guitar), and Jan-Mikael Erakare (bass). The band finished their 4-track demo in February of 2006, and are currently working on their first full-length release. |
